AUSTIN ( -- Your coffee, lunch, snack, or dinner on Thursday could benefit AIDS care across Austin.

Thursday marks the 27th annual Dining Out For Life - during which dozens of area restaurants will donate either a flat amount or a portion of their sales to AIDS Services of Austin.

Last year, some $52,000 was raised here in Austin - with funds raised in Austin staying here. ASA officials say a new HIV diagnosis is made every 35 hours in Travis County.

You can see a complete list of participating restaurants here.

ASA's Mike Trevino joined us on Inside Austin to talk about the event, how you can participate, and how the proceeds will benefit critical, life-affirming care across the Austin area. According to Trevino, just $100 helps provide two weeks of food for six clients. Funds also go towards providing oral healthcare, HIV testing and care, and educational programs.
