Severe risk Thursday, wet weekend ahead

May 18, 2017 - 11:39 am

(KJCE) Central Texas is in for a string of possible severe weather over the next few days.

Starting this afternoon into this evening, a marginal to slight risk of severe weather is possible. The slight risk area extends along and west of Interstate 35. The risk for severe weather extends north into Oklahoma and Kansas, where a rare "high" risk has been issued.

Another shot at severe weather is possible Friday afternoon and evening, although the forecast risk shifts further to the west. The Austin metro sits on the edge of the "marginal" risk zone.

Finally, over the weekend, a cold front moving through could stall out over the area, leading to the possibility of heavy rainfall. Depending on where it stalls, areas could see as much as 4-6 inches of rain - although most will see less.
