Suspect arrested in string of roman candle aggravated robberies

AUSTIN (KJCE) -- Austin Police have made an arrest in a string of aggravated robberies where the suspect used a lit roman candle.

Police arrested 44-year old Sean O'Brien at his residence in Lockhart on Saturday. He is accused of robbing four convenience stores between September 27 and October 1, and has been charged with four counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

In addition to the first two robberies previously reported, O'Brien is also accused of robbing a 7-Eleven in the 9200 block of Burnet Road early on Sunday, October 1; and another 7-Eleven in the 6100 block of Bee Cave Road in Travis County.

In all four cases, O'Brien used a roman candle and a hammer to commit the robberies. Police say he may also be involved in one additional case, which is still under investigation.
