AUSTIN (KJCE) -- One man is dead after a police chase into south Austin led to a crash early Friday morning.

Manor Police say it all began around 12:45 a.m. when one of their officers attempted to pull over a driver on Highway 290 East. The vehicle refused to stop and continued into Austin, where a pursuit began.

The chase continued down the interstate and ended near the William Cannon exit, when the suspect crashed his vehicle. Officers immediately performed CPR and medics transported him to South Austin Medical Center, but the 29-year old was pronounced deceased a short time later.

No other injuries were reported, and no police officers used any force in the incident.

Manor Police say they will release the man's identity once the next of kin is notified and the Travis County Medical Examiner completes an autopsy.
