TRAVIS COUNTY ( -- The Travis County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect they say shot at deputies after reportedly fleeing one crash scene while leading them on a chase before causing another crash Saturday afternoon.

Deputies say it all began with reports of a crash on State Highway 130 and someone leaving the scene of that initial crash. When deputies found the suspect's vehicle, they were led on a chase. The driver fired several rounds at deputies, and eventually caused a three-car crash at the intersection of FM 969 and FM 973 in southeast Travis County just after 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

Austin-Travis County EMS says three patients were transported to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

TCSO officials say the suspect was able to flee the second crash scene on foot. That prompted a search in the area with K9 units and helicopter support, but officials began to scale down their efforts shortly after 5 p.m.

The suspect, described as an armed male wearing a red shirt and black shorts, remains at large. Officials say anything suspicious should be reported to 911.
