AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The beginning of Leander ISD's 2020-21 school year hit a snag Wednesday evening, one day before students were set to begin virtual learning.

"We are canceling the school day for all high school students on Thursday, Aug. 13, and Friday, Aug. 14," the district said, "due to an issue with the web content filtering tool that allows students to connect to the internet on their district-provided laptop."

The district says its software vendor notified them of the issue Wednesday afternoon, after another district experienced issues earlier this week.

Elementary and middle school students will start classes as scheduled Thursday. The district is expecting additional servers, which it hopes to install over the weekend to enable high school students to start classes on Monday.
