Travis County reaches 137 COVID-19 cases, launches new case dashboard

More than half of cases are between ages 20-39

AUSTIN ( -- Travis County has confirmed 18 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the county's total to 137.

Austin Public Health revealed the updated data Thursday night. Officials also launched a new dashboard with more detailed information on the cases that have been identified so far, which can be found at the City of Austin's COVID-19 website at

According to the dashboard, cases of COVID-19 in Austin & Travis County are evenly split between men and women. More than half of the cases are people under the age of 40, with only 19 cases identified in patients 60 or older.

Earlier Thursday, city and county officials spoke on the heels of new model data from the University of Texas that underscored the need for continued social distancing and other efforts to "flatten the curve" of the spread of COVID-19. According to the preliminary data, if residents went back to their normal lives, the area's hospital capacity would easily be overwhelmed within weeks.
