Two dead after southeast Austin crash

AUSTIN (KJCE) -- A deadly crash killed two men late Tuesday night in southeast Austin.

Police say the crash happened in the 500 block of East Slaughter Lane, just east of Interstate 35, around 10 p.m. Tuesday. An SUV was heading eastbound and mkaing a left turn into an apartment complex when it was struck by a truck heading westbound.

Two men, both inside the SUV, were transported to a nearby hospital where they later died from their injuries. The driver of the pickup was expected to be okay, police said.
