GEORGETOWN, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Two Georgetown police officers are recovering after they were lured into an ambush and shot at Tuesday night, officials said.

Officials say police were responding to two 911 calls reporting someone trying to break in to a home in the 700 block of Garden Meadow Drive around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday night.

One officer was shot in both legs; the other was shot in the foot. Both officers were able to return fire, though it wasn't clear which shot killed the suspect.

Police said later Wednesday that the suspect, identified as a 16-year old male who lived in the home, made the first 911 call in an effort to lure police into an ambush.

Officials say neither officer was seriously injured, and both are recovering in the hospital.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing. The officers are on paid administrative leave pending that investigation, which is standard procedure for an officer-involved shooting.
