AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- University of Texas officials on Monday announced new health and safety practices for fall sporting events, including the 2020-21 football season.

The Big 12 Conference has not yet announced its plans for football this fall. For now, Texas is set to open the season at home against USF on September 5.

"Our priority is to create the safest gameday environment for our student-athletes, coaches, game officials, fans, staff, and visiting teams," Vice President and Director of Athletics Chris Del Conte said. "Our facilities, events, ticketing, marketing, communications and Longhorn Foundation staffs have been working on various scenarios and possibilities throughout the past four months to accomplish our priorities within State of Texas guidelines and in conjunction with medical officials."

Some of the changes fans can expect to see include:

  • Fans will be required to enter at the assigned gate listed on their mobile ticket
    • ADA guests and their accompanying seating group may enter at Gates 7, 14, 16, and 27
  • Social distancing markers will be placed at gate entry and strictly enforced to allow for social distancing
  • Clear bag policy in effect
  • Hand sanitizer kiosks installed throughout the stadium
  • Face coverings will be required
  • Restrooms, suites, clubs, press box, locker rooms, and turf surfaces will be treated by GermLogic
  • Regular cleaning of high-touch surfaces
  • All payment transactions for merchandise and concessions will be cashless and contactless
  • Concession menu offerings will be limited to the most high-demand, fan favorite items for speed of service and efficiency
  • No group tickets, mini plans, or single-game tickets for the 2020 season
