AUSTIN (KJCE) -- Austin Police have identified the victim in a fatal crash on the city's east side Thanksgiving night.

Police say a silver Lexus was traveling westbound in the 4200 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at a high rate of speed just after 10:30 p.m. For reasons yet unknown, the vehicle left the roadway at the north curb line and drove partially on the grassy shoulder. The vehicle then went back onto the roadway and crossed both westbound lanes of MLK and into the path of a gray Nissan Cube traveling eastbound.

The driver of the Lexus, identified as 27-year old Miranda Ashley Stark, was ejected from the vehicle. Both drivers were transported to the hospital and Stark died as a result of her injuries.

Police say their investigation continues. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-8544.

The crash is the 62nd fatal traffic crash of 2017, and the 67th fatality.
