Warm temperatures return after days of deep freeze

AUSTIN (KJCE) -- Austin will finally emerge from the deep freeze Wednesday, after enduring three straight days of sub-freezing temperatures.

The National Weather Service says Austin should see a high of 52 degrees Wednesday, marking the first time the mercury has risen above the freezing mark since Sunday afternoon.

Camp Mabry hit a low of 22 degrees Wednesday morning, while Austin-Bergstrom International Airport fell to 16 degrees.

Another hard freeze is expected overnight into Thursday morning, while temperatures continue to warm towards the weekend. Thursday morning's low in the Austin area is forecast to be 22 degrees. Sunday could see temperatures as high as the upper 60s.
