Wildfire contained in Caldwell County

June 17, 2017 - 8:40 pm

(Caldwell County/KJCE) A wildfire burning outside of Lockhart Saturday afternoon has been contained.

The fire was called in just before 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, near Anton Auction on Dry Creek Road. Officials say the fire grew to nearly 25 acres, initially believed to have been caused by bailing hay.

Just after 8 p.m., officials said the fire was mostly out except for a few bales of hay that would be allowed to burn themselves out. There were no injures and no structure damage.

In addition to the Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management, several other agencies responded to the blaze - including Mid-County Fire/Rescue - ESD No. 4, the Luling Volunteer Fire Department, the Maxwell Community Volunteer Fire Department, and the Southeast Caldwell County Volunteer Fire Department.
